UPF clothing covers and protects the skin beneath it. For uncovered areas (face, hands, neck), use sunscreen. For long exposure or high-intensity days, combine both for best protection.
Tight-knit, high-quality synthetic fabrics (like polyester, nylon, and some blends) and specially treated cottons can offer excellent UPF. At IKI we pick fabrics and finishes that prioritize real UV blocking, breathability, and comfort for active days.
Gentle wash, avoid harsh bleaches or fabric softeners, and air dry where possible. Follow the garment care label. With normal care, UPF performance is retained—avoid repeated abrasive washes or chemical exposure that the care label warns against.
SPF measures how well a sunscreen protects your skin from UVB rays. UPF measures how well a fabric blocks both UVA and UVB when you wear it. Sunscreen (SPF) protects exposed skin. UPF protects covered skin. They work best together.
